Ok, tomorrow is the day. I am going to help chaperone 24 jr high and high school kids on a campout/retreat. I have 4 girls in my charge....2 tenth graders, one 9th grader and 1 8th grader. I know 2 of them.....Theresa lives down the street and Heidi is Joseph's crush (aw, how sweet). I don't know the other 2 at all. Jo said she needs to talk to me about one of them.....someone who is *adventurous* Adventurous? I hope that doesn't mean she is going to sneak out of the tent after hours;/

This is an email from E about one perverted bastard....who was our priest when we first got married. He will be spending the next 6 years in prison. I only hope the other inmates take care of him:/
"I'll start with the end. He was sentenced to six years incarceration and
three years probation for lewd and lascivious behavior.
The maximum sentence would have been eight years. Only the one count
could be considered in the sentence.
HOWEVER, the judge started by relating his opinion of the case based on
piles of letters he has received representing former victims, and
extensive police reports from Fremont and Pinole. He said his opinion is
that this man should never be paroled, and would always be a danger to
society. The last say about parole is not up to him. The judge was
wonderful.
He let one family member speak for the record. They chose the mother of
the recent victim to talk for them. She is the sister of the woman Steve
married. In a tremendously strong statement she outlined the
devastation to her daughter and to herself, and the deep split in the
family which destroys all possibility of having family gatherings. When
she gave the statement, she was seated to the left of Steve, and he
turned in his chair to look right at her during the statement.
He was brought into the courtroom in his orange jumpsuit and in chains.
He looks the personification of a sex predator.
The couple I drove up with and sat next to from Pinole have a son who was
sexually abused more overtly than this present girl. They cried during
the whole proceedings. They also have had family gatherings interrupted
for decades now because their son cannot forgive them for not protecting
him from Steve.
The law has not begun to address sexual crimes on a realistic level.
Lewd and luscivious behavior is a felony, but now that we know these
predators cannot be rehabilitated, some place should be provided for them
to live out their lives after sentence apart from society. Unless other
inmates manage to kill them, they will be back out, and six years is very
soon.
There were psychiatric reports presented that recommended him for parole
on the basis (categorically opposite the truth) that he had one case
thirty years ago, was rehabilitated, and just had this one relapse. They
base this on the two incidents that were taken to court. Not reporting
offenses has drastic consequences in favor of the perpetrator.
Another case that did not get presented was the daughter of Steve's wife.
She has complained to her mother continuously of being groped. Her
mother sided with Steve. This girl had a nervous breakdown last year,
and was not able to file charges along with her cousin, but she has been
of moral support, and was present for the hearing in March and the
sentencing.
Channel 4 covered both events. They helped the truth get out. One of
the sentences in their report was something like this: "Today Mr. Kiesle
was sentenced to six years, even though his history of molestation has
covered the last 30 years."
It was a gruelling experience, most particularly hearing the defense
attorney explain very cogently why Steve merited every consideration of
the court, and would never be a danger to society. I don't know how they
sleep at night."
Bastard.
I am seriously sick of the holier than thou attitude displayed on a certain forum. If you read the certain forum, you will know exactly what I am talking about.
'I am so disappointed in what regular posters are saying' or some such bullshit. Give me a freaking break. I'm with R. I am tired of walking on eggshells because someone might get their panties in a twist. I'd like to tell a whole lot of them to grow the fuck up.

I've changed the template again;) I have a feeling I am going to change it more....I can't decide on my favorite.
Summer is definitely coming.....it was 94 today, and its still warm.....70* at 9:30. I need to dig out some summer dresses......
I picked up another tent for the retreat this weekend. Its 10x8....and the girls can sleep in that one while I use the small one for myself. I still can't believe that the chaperones are supposed to supply all the tents. Luckily this tent was on sale for $44....and it is big enough to stand up in. I think I am going to put it up in the backyard when we're finished with it....I will have it as a 'guest house' or 'retreat' lol. Its a whole hell of a lot cheaper than the tents I saw at Pottery Barn that I wanted for the back yard;) I can put it in the corner among the trees. I have a cool old cot I can put in it(and some old quilts & blankets) along with a chair & a table with a light on it. Add some flowers and a basket for books/magazines, and I will call it good. It will be very Martha Stewart;P
My summer project will be to get this classroom cleaned out, books sorted and boxed, and the small school desk taken out. Its too small for Joseph now anyway, even though it is so cool. Its a vintage school desk...I don't want to get rid of it though, so I will have to think of a place to display it. Joseph can use the other desk next year. I am here at the computer desk anyway.

Ok, I've rested now;)
Las Vegas was fun. We left Thursday afternoon and drove to beautiful downtown Mojave for the night. Gotta love Motel 6;-) Hey, it was a place to sleep.
We got up at the butt crack of dawn to finish the drive to Vegas. We stopped at Primm....home of a couple of casinos and a factory outlet mall. I wish I had more room in the car.....there is a Williams Sonoma outlet there.....and I could have done some serious damage there. As it was, I just bought some cool soap for the kitchen and a new chopper thingy. I also got 2 new pair of flip flops at Old Navy. $2 each....one yellow pair and one green pair.
We stayed at the Palace Station in Vegas. Nice hotel. Not spectacular, but nice. The guys played at the Suncoast. Now thatis a nice place. If they play there again, I am going to get a room there. Just couldn't afford it on a holiday weekend. Hoo boy do they jack the prices up on a holiday:/
Anyway, the shows were all great...and they sold out all three nights. Thank goodness for comp tickets;) If I had to pay the $35 a night for tickets, I doubt I'd be going much. I am so glad Steve takes care of my tickets, lol.......even when Casey can't make it. She is in rehearsals for the big play, so she couldn't come.
It was so good to see Cathy, Pat, Mary & all the kids. Cathy makes me laugh so much my sides ache. Monika was there with Joe. What a couple......if ever there were two people made for each other. Its nice to see that true love can win out in the end.
Chris & Joseph were busy all three nights. They saw 2 movies and a baseball game. I didn't feel so bad then.....they didn't sit in the hotel.
Saturday we shopped and swam........and Sunday we shopped (and swam). We went to another outlet mall, and we picked up a new pair of Vans for Joseph. $20.....you can't beat that! When we went to the Strip on Sunday, we went into the shopping mall area at the Aladdin. It is fabulous! I like the Forum shops at Caesars, but the Aladdin shops rock. There is a Hilo Hatties there.....and they had Wicked Wahine! Funny that my absolute favorite perfume is the hardest to find , unless you're in Hawaii. I have bottles of expensive perfume...I love Opium....but I get more compliments when I wear Wicked Wahine. 12 buck. I only wish I had bought 2 or 3 bottles, lol. Definitely next time
Tonight was the meeting for the camping retreat this weekend. It looks like I will have 3 or 4 girls in my charge. Theresa and Heidi are 2 of them though, so it shouldn't be too bad. Josephine isn't the most organized leader I'm discovering. She tells us tonight that she needs tents. She doesn't say a word to the kids:/ I have a humongous tent that sleeps something like 10 people.....but it is a pain in the ass to put up, so I am just bringing the small 3 man tent. I guess I will pick up another small one tomorrow......I have to make sure the girls have a tent to sleep in:/
Its off to bed for me now.....I am trying to get to bed at a decent hour.

I can't believe it! Big 5 actually had the tents in stock. Usually when there is a coupon sale, they are out the first couple of hours. It looked like they had plenty though. Good. One less thing to worry about:)
I ran into the Mercantile while I was out this afternoon. They are closing down and had everything 50-75% off. Unfortunately I waited too long to go in (kept forgetting) so most of the good stuff was gone. I did get a cool recipe card holder for $2. It says "The best things in life aren't things" Good saying.
We picked up snacks for the trip.....and I left them in the car. Now I won't be tempted to open anything tonight. I still need to paint my toenails.....and to finish packing. I think the toenails will be done tonight and the rest of the packing in the morning:)
Right now, I think I will pour myself a nice glass of wine. Maybe I'll fix Chris a drink (or 12) His mood is horrid tonight. Why does he always pick a fight right before we go sometwhere? *Sigh*

Ugh! The pollen count must be high this morning. My eyes are so damn itchy.....and my nose is running. I took a claritin but it hasn't kicked in yet. Hurry up and work!
I have to go to Big 5 this morning. They have small tents on sale and I need a small one for the camping retreat. There is no way I'm taking the 14x14 one for one night!

I just noticed this will be my 100th post:)
We scored some good books at the Scholastic book sale. I spent less than $50....which is a good thing for me. I think the last one I went to cost me almost $100. I found some interesting American History books for next year, and a couple of science and language arts books as well. Joseph picked out a few books to read too. Maybe he'll get them read during the summer.....
Since we had to drive right by Kohls....I had to go in. I found a cute pair of dark khaki capris and a couple of fun tee shirts. I also found a great top to wear to oneof the shows this weekend. Joseph found a tee shirt too. He went over and looked at Vans, but he didn't find the ones he wants.
The weather was beautiful today...in the 80s. I think 80-85 degrees is perfect.
I washed the car, then Chris and I waxed it after dinner.
Speaking of dinner....I completely forgot to take anything out (no, really.) I could have gone for Chinese, but I thawed some fish to throw on the grill. Of course, Chris walks in, looks at the fish and tells me "Great, just what I didn't want for dinner" Pissed me off. He pissed me off more when I put green beans on the table (along with rice pilaf and marinated artichoke hearts) "Green beans again?!" (We've had them twice in a week) Well, fuck you very much, dear. Men:/
He loved the fish, BTW....which I knew he would.
He's in a better mood now......a beer in hand and watching the Giants game. Good thing, too. I would hate to have to smack him;) (I'm kidding) (mostly)
I have to pack tomorrow, and I have no idea what to take.

I did some work in the back yard today. I got the garden ready for planting. I can't believe we're so late planting this year...we usually have it planted the beginning of May. I guess I'll just buy bigger plants;)
I mowed the back lawn and watered the orange tree. The back yard is finally looking better. It has been a pit all winter and early spring. I want to have a big bbq and invite everyone over. When is the question.
Santa Maria called Chris at work today. They are having problems and need his help. Hopefully he can get it done through e mail and phone calls. You don't want to know how pissed I will be if he has to miss our trip to Vegas. I think he realizes it, but if they need him there, he will go. *Shrug* What can I do?

The weekend is almost over......
Yesterday was the parish picnic that the youth group put on. Not much of a turnout.....but ok for the first time. The kids had fun. Fr Paul came for a while but Fr Mike never did. Way to keep in touch with the parish:/
Joseph was beat last night. It was a long day for them. The kids had to be at the park by 8, and we didn't leave until 5. I got to know Cathy P. She will be going on the camping retreat too.......and I found out today that Marilyn will probably be going as well. Now I don't feel so bad about chaperoning, lol.
Joseph played guitar at Mass this evening. It was the first time he's done it. He did a good job!
Thrift shop find of the weekend: a cute Gap skirt for $1.99. It will be great for summer. I have decided that I will not be wearing shorts out in public anymore......only at home or camping. Skirts are cool enough anyway:)

Somebody slap me. What was I thinking???
I have volunteered to help chaperone about 30 junior high and high school kids (from the youth group) on an overnight retreat in a couple of weeks. Camping no less.
Wonder if I can smuggle in a bottle of wine. I may need it;)
I guess I'm just a girl who can't say no, LOL.
Geeze.....what have I gotten myself into.

Happy 5th Birthday, Kaya Michelle.
I wish I could tell you in person. I wish I knew where you were. I wish your mom would get in touch with us and at least tell us where you are.
Your Nana, Papa and Uncle Joseph love you more than anything and we all miss you a lot.
Your room is still waiting for you:-)

Sheri called this morning to tell me my Pampered Chef stuff was in, so after Joseph finished his schoolwork we went up to Sacramento. Oh how I love Pampered Chef:) I can't wait to try out the new goodies I got.....especially the avocado knife. I don't know how I've survived lo these many years without one;P
We went into Costo while we were there.....the new one on Auburn has a big garden department. They had peonies in 5 gallon containers for $10.99! I am going to check my Costco tomorrow and see if they have any.....otherwise its back to Sacramento for some there.
Gotta run out and sweep the sidewalk.....Chris fertilized the lawn and I need to make sure none is on the sidewalk.......

Got a lot of errands done the past couple of days. I've been good about combining errands since gas is up to $2.47 for supreme! Yikes! I have been putting midgrade in, but the car is pinging...so I have to spring for the good stuff. Guess I'll go to Costco and get it then. Its a little cheaper there. Am I ever thankful the Volvo gets good gas mileage.
Some of the forums have been pissing me off lately. I get so irritated with stupidity. Stupidity and narrow minds.
Joseph had another meeting tonight. Saturday is the picnic that the youth group is putting on. They have been working hard at planning. I hope it goes well.
Boy, was this a boring blog or what;) I hope its better tomorrow:)

AAARRRRGGGHHHHH
Sometimes I just have to scream. I have a problem with people who deal in absolutes. "I would never.....(fill in the blank)" Bullshit. NO one knows, until the situation presents itself, whether or not they would (fill in the blank) I've been around this world long enough to know that. Anyone who says differently is deluding themselves:/

I'm hungry. I hope Chris gets home at a decent hour tonight. Its Friday...which means pizza & beer. I think Joseph and I may just go ahead and he can meet us there....
I had to drive down to the Bay Area and take him the meds that he forgot. You'd think...as a diabetic, he would remember the glucophage, but no. Sigh That's ok.....I hit Goodwill while I was there, so it wasn't a waste of the day;)
Joseph has been out on his skateboard most of the afternoon....I got some laundry done and a few things thrown away.

I can't believe this week is almost over. Where did it go?
Chris has been working non stop.....leaving the house before 6 in the morning and getting home after 7 most nights. Hartford called him yesterday....they are having start up trouble and want him back there again to help. Sigh He hasn't been able to talk to them yet....so I don't know if he's going back or not. If and when he goes back.....it had better not be over Memorial weekend. I made our reservations....Vegas, baby! I can't wait. It will be so fun:-)
I finally got to the post office and mailed Steve the press clippings for their shows last weekend. It was a good thing, as Martha would say;) They had to add a third show, as the first 2 sold out so quickly. Good for them, I say. I actually made money this past weekend......Mark had Casey and me selling tee shirts & CDs before and after the shows....then he paid us. Color me surprised, lol.
It was nice to see Rupert win a million tonight on the Survivor thing. It was really interesting watching how people voted. I must say, I agreed 100% with the sexiest man. Yum.....Colby. Just call me a lecherous old lady;P

Seattle Saga pt.2
Saturday afternoon (May 1) Casey called me and had to explain that the guys really didn't want Deborah around. I figured that out on Friday.
After the show on Saturday, Deborah went with a friend while I went to the after party and then out for drinks. I felt bad about it, and felt like I was betraying her. She said she understood......but I know she was hurt about it. When she called to let me know she was at the hotel to pick me up, she really sounded drunk. Drunk enough that I was scared. Joey told me I was not to ride with her if she had been drinking. He was pretty adamant about it. Luckily, when I saw her, she seemed ok, so I got in the car with her and we went back to her house.
We stayed up until 5 a.m. again, just talking. I really think she is a lost soul right now, and is having a problem accepting that she is not 20 anymore.
Sunday started great. The studly young boyfriend took us out for breakfast before he went to work, then we set out for an afternoon of shopping. There are such cool little shopping areas of Seattle. After we had done some shopping we stopped for some nachos and margaritas at a little Mexican resturaunt. We were going to head home after that, to relax with some wine and wait for studly young boyfriend to get home from work. That all changed with a phone call from her roomate Bobbie. She looked at me with a smile and told me we were going to her uncles.
What she didn't tell me was that her 'uncle' was a 60 something pot seller. She also didn't tell me that we were going to a horrible part of town (I don't even know what town it was:/) She didn't tell me that 'Uncle' lived above a ratty bar. She did tell me that we couldn't talk to anyone as we went through the bar on the way to "Uncle's".
As we walked up the rickety stairs, he came out to meet us, and to warn me about his booby traps. He has stuff set up so no one can sneak up on him. Comforting thought, huh. Not:/
Antyway, Deborah had told me that it would be rude not to accept his offer of beer or wine. I had a beer. At least I could open it myself. We sat there for an hour with him and his girlfriend, and I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I kept expecting someone to burst through the door.....either a disgruntled customer or the police.
It was that night I decided that next time I fly to Seattle to see the boys, I will be getting a hotel room, and renting a car. I can't subject myself to that kind of environment again.
I am worried about Deborah. She has alienated most of her old friends.......but I know she is fundamentally a good person. I don't know whether to back away from the friendship.....or what to do. Most people that knew her before she went wild think she is a joke now.......and it hurts me, even though she hasn't a clue.

I am such a blogging slacker;)
Ok.....here goes. I took Joseph to Grandmas last Thursday, and got home just in time to see Shii Ann voted off Survivor. I missed the reward challenge though:/ After Friends and Will & Grace were over, I finally packed for my weekend trip.
Friday I met Casey at the airport, and we flew up to Seattle. Deborah picked us up and we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch before we dropped Casey off at the hotel. O.M.G. the pasta at the Cheesecake Factory was to die for. We let Casey pick out what kind of cheesecake to have for dessert. We split a piece 3 ways. God knows my ass doesn't need a whole piece;)
After we dropped Casey off, we headed to Deborah's house to have a glass of wine and get ready for the show. Sometimes I really like packing for a trip....I can't change my mind about what I want to wear. I ended up wearing a pair of white jeans and a green top. Deborah.....well, she dressed like she usually does. This time, she wore a little fitted Chinese dress, short as hell. Add the platform shoes and hair up in sticks and she looked like she should be charging:/ (More about THAT in a minute) It was so good to see everyone. Kim & Lori were there, as was Linda. Mark came up from L.A., and Monika was there with Joe. Kim chewed me out for not letting them know I changed my e mail. Oops.
The boys were a bit distant. I wondered if it was because of Deborah, and as I found out Saturday, I was right:/ They really don't like her......at least J and R don't. I think JB likes her, but doesn't feel comfortable with her around....when M is there. Sometimes its a freaking soap opera:/
What can I say about Deborah? I can say that she is one of the kindest people I know, someone who is so loving and giving. She will do anything for her friends. Unfortunately, the lifestyle she is leading right now is SO not healthy. Since she divorced, she has become a wild woman. She gets a kick out of telling people she is now pagan *and* bisexual. Some of the stuff she does and says......I wonder if its for shock value. She is alienating most of her old friends. Of course, she *is* dating a 29 year old *God*, LOL. This boy is absolutely freaking b e a u t i f u l!! He has long curly brown hair, striking blue eyes and a killer of a smile. He looks like a model from Abercrombie & Fitch. But he's a boy. I have a SON that age, ferpetessake. Oh well, at least he makes her happy for now.
Saturday afternoon Deborah and I went to a few yard sales, then to Tacoma to go antiquing. We found lots of treasures, lol. Before we left to go have dinner with Cynthia, she told me we had one last stop to make. It was a porn shop. An ICKY porn shop at that. The toys and stuff didn't bother me....it was the booths upstairs to view 'movies'. And it was the creepy guys in there:/
More later. It gets better:/

My name is Shelly and I am a forum addict. I am having withdrawls today.....damn Delphi AND About are both down. I NEED my forum fix;/ Thank goodness GoJabber is up, and I can at least go to Kat's forum.
I am getting lots done today without my usual forum breaks though. I got the front porch scrubbed and repainted. I rearranged it, and got new pillows for the chairs and a tablecloth for the table (ok, its vinyl, but it looks vintage) I do believe I will sit out there this evening with a glass of wine and a book. Its not as bloody hot as it was yesterday....so it should be much more pleasant out there tonight. Oh, and I bought a pot of lavender to put out there, so it smells wonderful!
I took Joseph to get a haircut, dropped the books off at the library, then ran to the store. Raleys has white corn on sale 4/$1.00. I'm fixing small steaks tonight, and that fresh corn. Yummy! I've got carrot cake (from trader joes) for dessert.
I have to get Joseph packed for his trip to Grandma's tomorrow.....I'll pack for my trip after I get back from taking him to Santa Cruz.
I spoke with Casey today. She is going to fly up with me on Friday....Steve and the other guys have to fly out tonight, and she has class tomorrow and can't go til Friday. works out well for both of us. I will enjoy the company on the flight:-)

Its been a busy few days!
Chris got home on Thursday......he did get to relax for a day or so. Saturday morning we dropped Joseph off at Pena Adobe park for his walk a thon for the March of Dimes. I 'really' believe in that cause........since Kaya was only 1lb 13 oz when she was born. March of Dimes does good work:)
After we picked him up (and dropped Adam off at home) we went to Stockton for the Aparagus Festival.....CROWDED!!!! I didn't get to have any frioed asparagus though:( It was SO crowded that there was a one HOUR wait for the fried asparagus. I did get some asparagus pasta though.....and an asparagarita;)
Sunday morning we went to Petaluma for the antique fair I don't usually buy too much there......but I did find another vintage tablecloth for $15! Score! Most booths had them for $45 and up. I also got some (mismatched) vintage napkins.
We took Chris to the airport early yesterday morning for his return trip to Illinois. I think he really gets to come home next week! Roby needs him at the refinery for a shut down there. Next month he heads to Texas for a few days. I'm still thinking about going with......there are lots of people in Texas I would love to meet:)
Last night was GREAT!! I got to meet Kris and Bert! They are in Sacramento for a few days on the way home from their European trip. Seeing Kris in person was like old home week. You would not think we had never actually met before. It was like seeing a long lost friend. I am so thankful for that opportunity. She is exactly how she is on the forum....and Bert is a terrific man. I am so glad they found each other. I also got to meet Jill, and we got along well. I think I could *hang* with her, lol. She is funny and intelligent and kind. Deb (Maidy), her hubby and their 2 girls were there too. Deb is the sweetest person known to man, I think. Her girls are just adorable, and her husband is really nice. Joseph talked with him quite a bit.
I just wish I could meet *everyone* from the forums I want to meet, LOL. I am really hoping I get to meet Denine this weekend when I go to Seattle!

What kind of drugs do they put in the food prepared at Pampered Chef parties? Really, I need to know. There is no other reason I would have ordered $90 worth of stuff last night. They make everything sound *so* good. I didn't even order any big stuff! I think the most I spent on any one item was 11 or 12 dollars. *sigh* God knows, I have no idea how I have lived lo these many years without an avocado peeler! I won't have to suffer for long though, since I ordered one. I saw more in the catalogue that I want, too. Luckily Terri is going to have a party, so I can spend more money;/
Chris called this morning......he is coming home tomorrow, but just for the weekend. Should I get my honey do list out, or give him a break.........hmm....what to do, what to do......
He'll probably get a break, just because I have lots planned for the weekend already. He had better rest tomorrow and Friday;) Saturday morning Joseph walks in the March of Dimes walk, then we are meeting Sheri & Joel at the Asparagus Festival. You haven't lived until you have had deep fried asparagus....with an asparagus margarita to wash them down......yum:-)
Sunday is the antique fair in Petaluma.......
Next week I should be meeting Kris.....its excited I am! And......next weekend is my Seattle trip (Joseph will be staying with Grandma and Grandpa since Dad will be back in Ill.....) where I will hopefully meet Denine!

Its been raining off and on all weekend. I wanted to get some stuff done in the yard, but couldn't:/ Oh well, maybe this week.
Joseph and I went to Petaluma yesterday. The weather was gorgeous over there, lol. We went to one of MoveOn's "Bake back the White House" sales. Cookies for a cause....gotta like that:) I looked in a couple of antique shops to get an idea of just how good a buy my tablecloths were in Illinois. They were a damn good buy. The cheapest tablecloth I saw was $65. Quite a bit more than the $15 and $23 I paid for the ones I got. I wonder if I can get Chris to go to an antique store and get me a couple more? He knows what I like and collect.....
Today was a lazy day. I just didn't give a shit because of the weather. I got some laundry done, went to Target (Easter stuff was 90% off) then took Joseph to youth group and ran to K Mart. The teen choir sounded really good at Mass tonight. I'm glad Joseph wants to stay in it. He enjoys the whole thing.
Next Saturday the kids are participating in the Walk America for the March of Dimes. He has to hit up some people this week to sponsor him.
I'm off to take some allergy meds. My eyes are itching like crazy tonight:/

Ok. First blog post disappeared into cyber space.
The vacation was great. When we got in on Thursday I was a zombie though. I can't believe I was able to function at all. I only dozed on the plane, so I went basically without sleep for 36 hours. Nice surprise when I went to pick up the rental. I had reserved a Ford Focus.....cause it was cheap. ($149/week) When I went to get the car.......they had a Crown Victoria for me. Damn thing was like a boat! Best part was that it was the same price as the Focus! Someone must have screwed up, but I didn't complain;)
We met Chris at the hotel before he left for work (one thing about getting in at the butt crack of dawn) We went in and freshened up, then went downstairs for breakfast. I drove around a bit to get my bearings, then we met Chris and Mike at King Louie's in Wood River for lunch. Not much atmosphere, but damn good burgers:) After lunch, Joseph and I went to visit Cahokia Mounds Historic Site. (www.cahokiamounds.com) Its a 2,200 acre site preserving the central section of the largest prehistoric Indian city north of Mexico. We got back to the room right before Chris did. We went out to eat then came back in to watch Survivor and the Apprentice. I was kind of pissed Lex got voted off, mostly because I cannot STAND Boston Rob. OMG he thinks his shit doesn't stink;/ His attitude makes me want to reach through the tv and smack the crap out of him.
Friday Joe and I went and visited the Lewis & Clark site in Hartford IL. There is an interpretive Museum and a replica of one of their camps. We got a couple of books about them while we were there. After we went there, we went to Alton......I got some pottery at a place called Mississippi Mud, and we went into some antique stores. OMG....the price of antiques there is amazing! Probably half the price of the stores here. While we were in Alton, we went and saw the statue of Robert Ludlow.......he lived there. He was the tallest man in the world. I remember reading about him in the Guinness Book. He was something like 9 feet tall. We got pictures of both of us standing next to him.
Saturday, Chris took the day off, and we drove up to Springfield. We went through President Lincoln's house, then drove to the cemetery and visited his tomb. It was incredible, and a little weird......walking into this huge tomb and seeing the headstone of Abraham Lincoln....realizing the history. On the way back to Collinsville, we stopped at a huge antique mall. I found 2 tablecloths.......one from the 50's....red with musical notes along the border, instead of flowers. I couldn't believe the price.....15 dollars! Vintage tablecloths run anywhere from $40 to over S100 here......even more for some of them (like the map ones that were bought as souvenirs in the 40s or 50s) Speaking of which.....I found a California one!! I was stoked! It was only $23. I felt like I was stealing it at that price.
Sunday, we got up early and went to Easter Mass. It was nice, although the priest looked like Jimmy Swaggart, and that made me nervous;) He was just a little too smooth for my taste. Chris went to work for a couple of hours after that, then, since they were doing NOTHING at the stupid refinery, he took off and we drove into St Louis. We went to visit the Arch, and were happy to discover the museum underneath it was open on Easter. The Arch is an incredible sight close up. We could see it from our hotel window, but it is just awesome when you walk under it and look up. I didn't want to ride up it though.....660 feet in the air is just too high for me. I think Joseph took half a roll of pictures there that day. We came back to IL. and had dinner at a place called The Ponderosa. Good buffet:)
Monday they were still not doing much at the refinery, so Chris took the day off and we went to the St Louis Science Center. Awesome. There is no other word to describe it! Joseph was in heaven! There is so much to see and do there. I highly recommend it to anyone.....more so if you're a science buff like Joseph is. After we finished at the Science Center, we went to Union Station in downtown St Louis. It is an old railroad station that has been converted to a hotel and shops.....very cool. I found a shop there made for me, LOL. Its called Beatles For Sale:) I bought a hat, some bumper stickers and a poster for Joseph's room. I also saw the stuffed Ringo doll I have......its selling for $125. We also went to the Galleria in St Louis (You didn't think I would NOT shop, did you) I was good there though, although they have a Mary Englebreit store, where I could have cheerfully spent a small fortune! Besides an Scottie dog charm and a felt purse with a Scottie on it, I didn't get much except for some postcards she made. I brought one home for Theresa. She loves Mary Englebreit as much as I do. The only other thing we got there was at the Disney store.....4 shirts for $18! What a sale. I know, I know, I have Disney stores here, not to mention our trip to Disneyland, but I couldn't pass up those prices;)
Tuesday was lazy. I had to pack ....and the new clothes I bought all fit into the existing suitcases! The only extra thing I had to carry on the plane was a big shopping bag with the other trinkets I bought, and the pottery. Chris got off work early so we could spend a couple of hours together before we left to catch our plane. The flight home was ok. We had another layover in Vegas.....I won $50 on the way home (and $30 on the way out there) Our flight from Vegas to Sacramento was 2 hours late though. Joseph and I were both so tired......he went to sleep on the floor of the airport, poor kid:/
All in all, it was a nice trip. I still don't know how long Chris is going to be there though:(

Non thrift store deal of the day:
Haggar Outlet........1 pair dress khakis for Joseph, 1 nice pair shorts and 2 long sleeved work shirts for Chris....$9.50. The store is closing down and moving to another place. Yay for me;)
Thrift shop deal of the day: brand new BCBG (or BGBC....whatever) Max Azaria pink beaded sweater for 99 cents. Woo hoo! I am on a pink kick this spring;-)
Weather was glorious today....no wind at all this evening. Chris and I sat out on the front porch with a glass of wine. Nice.
We lose an hour of sleep tonight, but it is worth it for the extra daylight. I love daylight savings. I love sitting outside and relaxing.
Unfortunately, Chris has another ungodly early flight tomorrow morning, so I will get even less sleep tonight. Oh well....I can alway nap tomorrow aftenoon;-)

*Big sigh of relief*
Confirmation went very well. Joseph looked very handsome with his shirt & tie. Everyone looked so grown up. I was proud of *all* my kids. I have taught some of them since they were in second grade. Roy & Eleanor came up (Eleanor was his sponsor), and Sheri, Joel, Jeff, Lyndsey and baby Lexie came too. The church was crowded. A couple of the kids got me cards and thank you gifts . According to Danielle, I totally rock;-) Joseph got a new Bible from Grandma, along with a CD of 'Christian rock'. I don't know how much he will listen to that, but it was nice of her to get it. He got a cool necklace and a manly bracelet, as well as some other really cool stuff. He said he is going to continue going to youth group...even though he technically doesn't have to anymore. I'm glad he likes it though=) (Besides....he's in the choir now, so he has practice before mass on Sunday afternoon)
Yesterday we just relaxed most of the day, and watched Survivor at night. I got a giggle from Boston Rob's 'godfather' B.S. "You take care of Amber, I'll take care of you' HAHAHAHA He sure thinks he is something, lol. What a jerk;p
We finally got a case for Joseph's acoustic. I feel a lot better about him taking it out now.
To do tomorrow: Buy thank you cards....and have Joseph send them to those who came to Confirmation.

Chris comes in today, and gets to stay til Sunday. (That means another 4:30 wake up for the return trip to the airport....but its ok)
Tonight is practice for tomorrow's Confirmation, then we will have a party in the classroom. I got chips/sodas, and I will pick up a cake this afternoon after we get back from the airport. I'm not going to know what to do with myself next year on Tuesdays if I don't teach, LOL. I've taught CCD for 6 years! I *may* teach again in the fall (not sure yet) but only the little kids. No more sacraments for me;-)
I made our flight reservations for next Wednesday. Jpseph is really excited. He hasn't flown since he was 2 years old. It looks like we have a 2 hour layover in Vegas.......I *think* there are slot machines in the terminal near the gates :D We're flying at night.....both ways. I hope I will be able to sleep some. I'm sure Joe will. That kid can sleep anywhere;)
I've got to mop the kitchen floor this morning......guess I should get off my ass and get started.

I got my pink boots:-) UGG knock offs, but cute anyway. They are so NOT practical, but who cares. I felt like being frivolous, and they were only $30. Besides, they are cute.......did I mention that;-)
I dropped Joseph off at youth group this afternoon then went to Trader Joes. I picked up some 2 buck Chuck and a few other things. They have the best smelling soap......I got both lemon verbena and some rose. The rose has crushed rose petals in the soap. It smells soooooo good. I stopped at the dollar store on the way back. Its amazing what you can find for a dollar.
Mass was crowded tonight. I don't know why. Lots of kids are going now. The choir is really doing well. John gave Joseph some music to look at last week. He wants Joe to play the guitar when he's ready. Pretty cool......he's only been playing for a month or so. He picks up stuff quickly though. I am going to have to tell John how much he sounds like John denver. They did a song during the second offering. John sang alone before the kids joined in, and durned if he didn't sound just like John Denver;-)
I have to renew the library books tomorrow.....we've been so busy we haven't really read them much. I also need to go buy stamps and mail bills, then go pick up stuff for Tuesday night after Confirmation practice. I figure the kids deserve a party. (me too) They have worked hard this year to get ready.

Reading is FUNdamental. I haven't seen those commercials (or PSAs) lately. I wonder if they still show them.
I'm reading a book called The Usual Rules by Joyce Maynard. Its really good so far. Its about a 13 year old girl who loses her mother in the attack on the WTC, and how she and everyone in her family deal (or don't) with it.
I've got a couple of other books to read when this one is finished. I bought Angels and Demons, and Mary Called Magdalene. Both of those look very interesting as well. I also picked up a Danielle Steel at the Book Outlet......fluff reading, but good escapism. There is also a new Nora Roberts trilogy. I can't remember the name of the first book. (damn CRS anyway) I got it at Costco, but haven't read that either.
Joseph is reading a book called The Giver, he said its good. He is also reading one of Stephen Hawking's books. I think its A Brief History of Time. He has both Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell and is trying to decide which one to read first. I am so thankful he enjoys reading. He always has something to read....either a book or a magazine. Getting Jason to read was like pulling teeth.

It was nice having Chris home for the weekend. We got a lot done. Chris and Joseph got the captains bed taken out front for Salvation Army to pick up. I am glad to have it out of my living room. We bought an orange tree and planted it. Yum....fresh picked oranges. I can't wait.
He flew back out on Monday morning......another 7 am flight. That meant getting up at 4 to get him to the airport early enough. Both Joseph and I were worthless for the rest of the day. We did go to Bible Study Monday night.....only to hear some lady telling Fr. Mike that he should do a homily at the teen mass about 'the proper way to dress'. Apparently she doesn't like jeans. I should have spoken up I guess, but wuss that I am, I kept my mouth shut. I would think that the church would be happy to get so many young people to even GO to church. One reason I like the teen mass so much is that it is more casual. I have seen nothing inappropriate in what the kids wear. I wish I would have told her that there are 4 other masses she can go to, if she doesn't like the teen mass. One on Saturday evening and 3 on Sunday morning/afternoon. No one is forcing her to go to that particular mass. Its people like her that just irritate the hell out of me.
Confirmation is in ONLY a week. Holy cow.....I still have so much to do around here! Panic should set in this weekend if I don't get the cleaning done before that.

4 more bags for Goodwill....they are going to love me! If I had the time (or inclination) I would put some of the stuff on e bay, but I'm not.
I'm depressed that Ethan is gone. There is something endearing about him......
I found a great website today ! www.seeyageorge.com
It has some great tee shirts and bumperstickers. My favorites are "Save the environment, plant a Bush back in Texas", "No more Bushit", "Stop mad cowboy disease" and "We didn't elect him, we don't have to keep him" Looks like I will be doing some ordering;)
Chris flies in tomorrow evening. He gets to stay til Monday morning:-)

I can actually walk in my walk in closet now!! Yahoo and yippee:D I had so much crap in there, it was unbelievable. I filled 3 trash bags with stuff to throw away....and I have 4 huge bags so far for Goodwill. I still have to go through all the sweaters I have on the shelves in order to get rid of some. It will be such a great feeling when I have that closet ALL finished.......most likely tomorrow afternoon.
The corned beef smells so good.......its almost time to eat. Good thing, because I'm starving.
Survivor tonight........can't wait.

Yesterday I had such ambitious plans.......I was going to get SO much done. Then Sheri called & wanted us to go up and visit. Joseph finished his work earlier than usual, so we went up to Sacramento and spent the afternoon at Sheri's. Well, actually, the mall. I was really good though. The only thing I bought was at Yankee Candle, and it was on sale. Besides buying lunch, I spent less than ten dollars :D
Joseph and I left her house about 5:30......and there was a huge traffic jam on the Yolo Causeway. Traffic was totally stopped....and I had less than 1/4 tank of gas. (Dumb sh*t me forgot to gas up before we left Sac) Luckily I made it to the last offramp before the bridge, and got some gas ($2.19 for REGULAR....I almost crapped....but I had to get it:/) We decided to go into Eppies and eat, since traffic was at a standstill. After waiting 20 minutes without anyone coming to take our order, we gave up and left. Traffic was moving by then, so we went to In N Out in Davis and had burgers. Gawd, I love In N Out burgers....and fries.
Today was grocery shopping. With only the two of us here, I thought I might get by a lot cheaper. Hardly. I still spent $90. I took the boy to get a haircut after he finished his school work. The curls are intact though. He would have to shave his head to get rid of them. Luckily he doesn't want to do that. He is realising that the girls like curly hair.
Tonight was Confirmation class. Only 2 more classes, then the kids hit the big time;) I am really glad its almost over. Karla wants me to teach again next fall, but I told her if I do, I want the little kids. NO more sacraments. I don't want to do First Communion either. I want either K or first grade....or maybe 3rd. She also wants me to do Vacation Bible School again this summer. *Sigh* I guess if we are home, I'll do it. It *was* fun. I liked being the craft lady;-)

I love Sunday. I love the rituals.....reading the Sunday papers; going through all the ads; reading the comics. I love being able to stay in my jammies while I read the paper and drink coffee. I love the drive to Petaluma for lunch and thrift shopping.
I love being able to relax while Joseph is at youth group, and then going to Mass in the evening.
Its the same thing every Sunday, and it is comforting in the sameness.
I have a stack of magazines I bought at Copperfields......I think I'll fix a cup of tea and see what Oprah has to say this month:)

I was going to clean today. Notice I said *was going to*. Other than loading the dishwasher and cleaning the bathroom....nada. Joseph and I drove up to Sacramento to go to the new Kohls. I keep hearing about the place, and figured I should check it out. Its like Mervyns, I think. If they build one here, I'll go, but it really wasn't worth the drive. I guess if I am up there anyway, I'll go in but otherwise.....
I did get Joseph's black pants and red tie for Confirmation. All we need now is the white shirt. And shoes. He can't wear Vans for Confirmation;) Since I had a shopping bug, we decided to go to the Folsom outlets to see if they have any different stores than the outlets here do. They have Pac Sun and Zumiez......neither of which are here, and both of which Joseph loves. He found a Bam shirt he's been wanting. (Its some skateboarder) I wasn't impressed with Zumiez' prices at all. They were no cheaper than the mall. I *really* want a "Jesus is my homeboy" shirt, but won't spend $22 on a tee shirt....especially at an *outlet* :/
The boy needs a haircut. His hair is so curly, and its beginning to look like Ethan's, LOL (Survivor Ethan) Looks like we'll be heading to the salon this week for him. As for me.....I seriously need to get some color.....the grey roots are REALLY showing. I still can't decide whether to let my hair grow a little, or get it cut again. I've worn it short, short for years, and am ready for a change....but I don't know what kind of change;) Decisions, decisions.

Colby got voted off Survivor tonight:( *Sniff*
He is so *purty*..........I liked watching him. Oh well, at least Ethan is still there.
Boston Rob needs to not talk. He isn't awful to look at, but damn, it sounds like he has a mouth full of something when he talks. I can't stand it! As far as I'm concerned, he and big Tom both sound the same........irritating. I like to listen to a man who enunciates;-)

Went to IKEA and picked up the new Roman shades for the family room windows and the patio door. I got the one for the door put up, but will have to wait til tomorrow to get the other ones up. I was really good at IKEA, too. I only spent about $40, which is good for me there. I ALWAYS find too much stuff;)
I took Joseph to Mervyns to get a couple of pair of shorts. Thank goodness for the one day sale, LOL. I would NOT pay $28 each for shorts, but $11.99 is doable. I miss the days when I could get him a whole summers worth of shorts for $30. *Sigh*
Chris said he is going to Mikey's aunt's house for pot roast tomorrow. I guess Mikes dad drove up from Arkansas and is pissed that Chris hasn't gone out to dinner with them. I told him do NOT pass up a chance for home cooking while he's there. Its a lot better than eating in resturaunts every night.
Announcement: I hate panic attacks. I really do:/

Chris called this afternoon and said it is cold back there! Poor guy. He said the chill cuts right through you. I just had to tell him it was 80 degrees here today......we're having a warm spell. Yep, I am a bitch, LOL. I hope the weather is warmer by the time Joseph and I get out there.
The kids got list of Confirmation rules tonight. They have to go to confession the Saturday before. If Chris is home that weekend, I don't know if Joseph will be going or not. It depends on what his Dad wants to do. I hardly think Karla would NOT let a kid be confirmed if they miss that day. I know of a couple of other kids who will definitely miss it. They have rehearsal the night before Confirmation.....the sponsor is *supposed* to attend, but there is no way Eleanor will be able to come up the night before. *Sigh* Now I have to tell Karla that. I know she'll be pissed, but I really don't care. Since her husband left her, she is even more over the top than she was before.
I got the bathrooms scrubbed today, and threw out a bunch of junk from both cabinets. I also got started on the kitchen......I have to scrub the cupboards and pantry. Oh what fun;/

Chris is gone for 6 weeks. We took him to the airport yesterday morning.....we had to leave at 4:30 A.M cause he had a 7 a.m. flight. There ought to be a law about getting up that early:/ He will ba able to come home for one weekend, plus Joseph's Confirmation, and Joseph & I will fly out after Confirmation for a week.
Let the spring cleaning begin.
I'm starting in the bedroom. Since he will be gone, I can take everything out of the closet and put it on the bed. I won't have to finish in one day.....I can sleep on the couch if need be. Goodwill is going to love me. They are going to get bags and bags of clothes.
Let the spring cleaning begin.

Today was the primary election. I think the voter turnout was probably low here.....its only been a few months since the stupid recall election......where the Governator was elected:/ I know Kerry has the nomination all sewn up....so I voted my concience today. Kucinich hasn't a snowball's chance in hell, but he got my vote anyway;) I'll vote Kerry in November:) I've decided I am going to be waymore active in the campaign this year. I need to get in touch with the DNC and see what I can do. Anything to get shrub out of office.
Chris came home with another bit of travel news........his name is on a list of possiblities to go to Venezuela in May....for 5 or 6 months. I honestly don't know what to think. On one hand, it would be great for him, monetarily especially. It would be a 30% bump in pay. Would it be worth it though? I don't want to go for that long. School would be no problem.....books travel well, and I would still homeschool . Its just the thought of leaving the house for that long, the animals, not to mention the plans we already have for the summer and beyond. AND the fact that we would have to live on a compound and not really be able to leave........ *Sigh* I hope it doesn't come to the "you're going" stage. Denial is a nice place to be:/ I think I will remain here for a bit.

The company wants Chris to go back to Illinois to help start up a couple of units. I guess all told he will be there about 6 weeks. He leaves in a week. He gets to fly back for a couple of weekends....and he told them he has to be here March 31st for Joseph's confirmation. I'm going to check flights to St Louis.....hopefully Joseph and I can go back for a week or so. Its close to St Louis, so there should be lots to do and learn there.
Mom was born and raised in Illinois.....maybe I can find out about some long lost relatives.....or at least some family history. That would be cool.
I went to Target yesterday....found some new slipcovers for the dining room chairs. They are the Bella line....with morning glories embroidered on the edge. Pretty! I took the others off and after they are washed, I'll put them on the kitchen chairs:) Best part is they were on clearance.......reg. price was $19.99 each, and I paid $4.33 each. Not too bad;-)

Monday=errands.
Today I:
went to the post office (got a package mailed)
went to the library
dropped off some stuff at Goodwill
went by City Hall to ask a question
went to Target
went to grocery store
Then I came home and
mopped kitchen and both bathroom floors
did 3 loads of laundry
went through some papers
cleaned desk
checked Joseph's work for the day
went through pile of mail....mostly junk mail.
mowed back yard
swept sidewalk
made meatloaf for dinner
Chris built a nice fire this evening.....I think I deserve a glass of wine and a seat on the couch;-)

I love Restoration Hardware. Really. Where else can you spend $35 on cleaning products? Beach House is the scent.......it smells so good. I almost look forward to mopping the kitchen floor tomorrow. Almost.
I am just glad I have to drive almost an hour to get to a Restoration........I could be in serious trouble if they build one here;)
Pottery Barn is another place. *Sigh* I love to look there (or in the catalogue) then go to Target to buy:) Then there is Crate and Barrel......and Williams Sonoma. I just have champagne taste on a beer budget......but it IS fun to look.
Joseph sang with the teen choir again at Mass this evening. I am surprised at how much he likes it....or maybe I'm not. The reason he *really* likes it is named Heidi. She is an adorable little blonde. I saw her give him a hug when we left. Oh hell, it is starting. My baby, lol. I think she is an 'older woman' too.....at least 14. She is his first real crush I think, besides Brittany. Gawd help me;-)

Menopause bites.
I have hair sprouting from my chin. I hate it. I pluck it. Thank goodness its only one or 2 hairs, but still.
What happened to the young thing that I was? Where did she go? In her place is a middle aged woman.....wrinkled and with gray hair (well, brown, but just because I dye it)
I am not feeling good about myself at all tonight:(
I think I will dig out a good old fashioned romance novel and read myself to sleep.

Today was errand running and starting to rearrange the family room. I got the bookshelf moved under one of the windows, and all the videos ready to transfer to whatever cabinet I get. I have to get that done tomorrow.
Today I went to the library, Trader Joes, Cost Plus, Raleys, Longs and I filled up the car. Friggin gas has gone up AGAIN. $2.05 for midgrade.
Joseph and Adam are working on some skateboard stunts. I think they are both crazy;) Joseph played his guitar for about 2 hours this afternoon after he finished his schoolwork. He's sounding better all the time.
We're still waiting for the bonus check to be deposited....hopefully tomorrow. I noticed though that the check from the stock option was deposited Tuesday. That is very nice:-) I guess that means we can start shopping for a new fridge and a freezer for the garage.......

I am glad Chris is back to work. Its nice to go places, but its also nice to have my routine back.....and to try and get this house together! I am looking to do some redecorating in the family room. I need to make a trip to IKEA for a cabinet for the gazillion videos we have. Looking at the amount of Chris' bonus, I will able to buy pretty much anything I want;-)
We went to Pismo Beach for a couple of days last week. The weather was absolutely incredible. I think February is the best time to go down there. It was SO relaxing. We mostly just bummed around, poking into shops here and there, and looking for shells and rocks on the beach. I got some more sand dollars. We stopped at Avila Beach Friday, and Joseph found a starfish on one of the supports of the pier! It was so cool!! I have never seen a live one outside of the tidal pools at Marine World or the zoo. He took a bunch of pictures of it.
Saturday morning, Chris and Joseph let me sleep in while they went to the mall (to get my Sees candy........pure heaven it is) and IKEA. They got the loft bed Boo has been wanting. They spent all afternoon and evening putting it up. Now I have a captain's bed in the living room to get rid of. Guess I'll call Salvation Army to pick it up.
The boys did a benefit Saturday night , so I got to see them again. 2 shows this time, and I got to visit with Casey, and catch up on some good gossip;)
Sunday, I dropped Joseph off at youth group. He called me a bit later to tell me that the teen choir they started was going to sing at Mass Sunday night. Poor kid was nervous, but they sounded really good. Father Mike even complimented them. I'm so glad Joseph enjoys it.
I think Joseph and I are going to take *Princess* to Sacramento tomorrow and show her around the state capitol. Maybe we will see the Governator;-)

I can now say I have been married for 30 years. I have joined the ranks of "long marriages". Wow.
Dinner yesterday was yummy. Hacienda is our absolute favorite restaurant......we've gone there for years. Seafood chimichangas to DIE for, and killer margaritas. Its all good;) We decided on anniversary gifts as well......a funky vintage bathroom cabinet for me, and new truck tires for him. Exciting, no?
Tomorrow we're heading to Pismo Beach for a couple of days. I can't wait for the spa at the Oxford Suites.....I can feel it already;)
About Seattle...........the quick trip was awesome:) The crowd for the guys' performance was HUGE.....over 5000 people. They got a great reception! They will be back in Seattle the end of April for 3 days, playing at the Paramount. It should be fun. I will be able to see people who didn't come on Saturday, and hopefully meet Denine and the rest of the Washington moms at the same time:-) It was a busy day saturday.....straight fromt he airport to the Museum where the guys played.....then out to dinner with Deboran and Linda, then drinks with everyone at the Edgewater. What a cool place! The Beatles stayed there on a trip to Seattle all those years ago. Got complimented on the new specs. Someone who shall remain nameless even said they were sexy. Boy did that make me feel good. I haven't been called sexy in.......well, too long. Anyway, it was a good weekend, and a great anniversary.

From SAHP:
30 years ago today.......
2 kids, fresh out of high school, drove their rented Ford Pinto (his uncle had to rent the car, since neither kid was old enough) to Reno. In the car were her best friend and his cousin.
They pulled into Reno, and had a flat tire, right in front of the marriage license office. While cousin Al fixed the tire, the two wet behind the ears kids got the marriage license....
The wedding was at 3:00, and the bride had to change into her wedding dress (a long baby blue granny gown) at the gas station, as the hotel room wasn't ready yet.
At 3:00, in spite of all the obstacles, the young couple and their two attendants stood in front of Father Bishop at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno.
30 years later, in spite of all the obstacles, we're still here:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And they said we wouldn't last a year;-P
I can't believe I am old enough to have been married for 30 years! It has been an adventure.
I'm packed and ready for my flight tomorrow......I can't wait to see everyone.
Chris had a voice mail at work this morning from #1 son......'the forgotten son' as he referred to himself. He called him and talked for a half hour. Jason is living in Seattle, and has a girlfriend. Chris said it was a really good talk. Jason is in AA....he has stopped drinking~~~~Thank You God~~~~and is in therapy. He said the new woman in his life is very supportive of him. I hope so. I want him to be a whole person again. He is a good soul, but has so many problems.
He asked about Kaya.......and Chris told him the whole story about the last time we had her, and everything that happened.
Jason told his dad that HE got a Christmas card from Kaya/Kezia....and that Kezia said she was living in NOVATO (she told us Mill Valley) but she was moving back to San Francisco. I think I will take a drive over there, possibly sometime next week, and see if they are back in the apartment Kelso has. Apparently Kezia told Jason a bunch of lies.....Chris set him straight on what the truth of the matter is. He also told him how malnourished Kaya was when we got her.....and how much weight she gained. He told him all the shit Kezia pulled, which Jason said he could believe. I guess she called Jason's girlfriend on Christmas Eve.....she was very pleasant for about 20 minutes, then went on a rampage, calling the girl names, etc. The girl ( I don't even know her name.....) finally hung up on Kezia......then Kelso called her back, yelling at her, telling her how DARE she call and upset Kezia on Christmas Eve. The girl, bless her heart ( I like her already....she stood up to both crazy people) told Kelso that KEZIA called HER, and not to call again.
It was weird that he called the day before I am to go up there though. I am not ready to see him yet. I hope he doesn't show up at the concert. I don't know him anymore.....I don't know what he might do. If he goes through a 12 step program, one of the things he will have to do is to apologize to people he has hurt. I just don't know what I will do if and when that happens. There is no hurt in the world like what a child can do to you.
Changing the subject......Chris DOES have next week off. I don't know what we're doing though........
UGH. I am so glad I hadn't made reservations for anywhere next week:/ DH (and I DON'T mean dear husband right now:/) asks me tonight if I can take the truck tomorrow and have front tires put on. I told him that we can do it next week, since he's on vacation. He looks at me like he has no friggin idea WHAT I'm talking about. "Vacation? What do you mean? " Uh, DEAR.....the vacation you told me you signed up for last month. You know.....so we can celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary??? NOW he says he doesn't know for sure if he gets it off, but he will ask tomorrow. Hello? I feel like telling him not to freaking bother:/ He can take the Volvo to work next Monday and I'll go buy his effing tires.......then I'll take myself out to dinner. I also have a bottle of Perriet Jouet Flowers champagne in the fridge.....I will have to open THAT and toast myself too. Maybe I'll buy myself a nice anniversary gift while I'm at it. I doubt he'll even remember anyway. Can you tell I'm a touch pissed? Ok, whine over:/
On a lighter note.....it was sad seeing Rudy voted off tonight, but I am just glad Ethan is still there. It was touching to see them all in tears when Rudy left though:(
PLEASE let Richard's tribe lose so his naked ass can get voted off next!
Two more days til my Seattle trip! I am getting excited about it. I can't wait to see everyone. Since we are going from the airport to the museum when Deborah picks me up, I won't have time to change my clothes. I guess I'll wear my jeans, grey cashemere turtleneck and black boots. That looks *Seattle* enough, LOL. Its also comfortable for the plane and looks decent. Cansey emailed me this morning. They are flying up today.....they guys do the promo stuff tomorrow.
Off to get more coffee......I LOVE my new coffee pot! We got the Melitta....it rocks:-)
Random thoughts.....
I am seriously sick of Janet Jackson's boob. Every time I turn on the telly, there it is. I have seen better in my day, lol. I knew it wasn't an accident. I did like Justin Timberlakes 'wardrobe malfunction' line yesterday though. Wardrobe malfunction my ass;-) I am wondering how and when I can use the term 'wardrobe malfunction'. Heh.
Someone stop me....I want to start spring cleaning now. Its too early, and not nearly warm enough. Its hard to open the windows when its pouring rain and the wind is howling. I do want to get some stuff done before Confirmation at the end of March. I definitely need to repaint the front porch. In the meantime, I'll just content myself with looking at organizing tips in magazines, and getting all my cleaning supplies up to date. I love this stuff: http://www.mrsmeyers.com/
Its pricey but it works well and smells oh so good.
Chris is off all next week. Our anniversary is next Monday. I need to start thinking about it. I should be excited about it, after all, 30 years is nothing to sneeze at! I can't believe I am even OLD enough to have been married 30 years.....it boggles the mind. I still don't know what we're going to do. Probably just go out for dinner. I want a party. That won't happen:/
I loved Survivor last night! It is sick......it felt like I was seeing old friends again. I get entirely too involved in that show. Ethan is still adorable and huggable (and young enough to be my son, LOL) Colby still looks DAMN good. What eyes! Richard Hatch is an arrogant bastard. Rupert is a scared kid there. Lex is Lex. I love reading his article in the paper when we go to Santa Cruz. He would be a blast to hang out with. Maybe I'll go see his band play sometime.
And now....its about bedtime.....
So much for the sunny weather....we're back to overcast.....and a storms a brewin.
I have been so lazy today. I didn't even shower and get dressed til 10:30. Chris got up & went to Mass this morning, so he would be able to watch the stupor bowl....which he is watching now. I dropped Joseph off at youth group.....have to go get him in a bit, then the two of us will go to the youth Mass. Chris gets to cook dinner, since he's staying home for the game:)
I can't wait til Survivor tonight!
Today was a gloriusly beautiful day.....perfect for a trip to the ocean. Too bad we didn't go to the ocean;-) Chris wanted to go out for breakfast this morning....he got no argument from me. I think breakfast out is almost as nice as dinner out. I love to have the server refill my coffee......
I still didn't get the coffee pot we wanted, but I will keep looking for the right one. I did go back to Target though.....I ended up with a new sweater, and a few tee shirts. 75% off sales rock. We went to the factory outlets in the afternoon.....Joseph found a pair of Vans for 19.99. The boy wears a size 10 now! Holy guacamole.....his dad only wears a 9. Deal of the day though, was at the Guess outlet. They had mens polo shirts for FIVE dollars! I bought 4 for Chris. They will be great for work. I do so love a deal:)
I am tired tonight......I think I'll go to bed early.
Candy sales are a major pain;)
A wonderful benefit of homeschooling is that I haven't had to deal with candy sales, except for buying from other kids. Enter youth group. Joseph brought home a brochure Sunday....for Sees candy. Well hell, you know I can't resist See's. Thing is, they only give them one week for selling....not nearly long enough IMO. Luckily we have chocoholics living next door, lol. Ben & company bought a lot! Chris took it to work but only got a few sales. I think the kids are supposed to sell a minimum of 10 boxes.....Joseph has sold 30, so he's done his part.
Chris has decided he wants a new Melitta coffee maker. He got one for the office, and says it makes the best coffee. Off to Target we go, but they only have black ones, and I want white. Oh well....we'll have to look somewhere else tomorrow. Target *was* having a great clearance sale.......I bought another set of flannel sheets for $17. They're cream color, so I can use them past winter. There are also racks and racks of clothes for 50 and 75% off.....I need to go back tomorrow without a husband and teenager in tow;)
Chris has decided he wants a new Melitta coffee maker. He got one for the office, and says it makes the best coffee. Off to Target we go, but they only have black ones, and I want white. Oh well....we'll have to look somewhere else tomorrow. Target *was* having a great clearance sale.......I bought another set of flannel sheets for $17. They're cream color, so I can use them past winter. There are also racks and racks of clothes for 50 and 75% off.....I need to go back tomorrow without a husband and teenager in tow;)
Customer service rave!! I got an email from the Sunbeam Company regarding my POS iron from last week. They are sending me a new iron! I didn't expect that at all.....I expected an apology *maybe* or a coupon for a future purchase.
I already replaced the iron, but I will put it away as a backup.....or will use it on vacation for places without irons:)
Its excited I am! I booked my flight to Seattle to see the guys play. I will be staying with Deborah.....no need to rent a car or make hotel reservations. That is a relief.....Chris can't get too pissed, cause I'm only paying for the flight. And if he does get pissed....too bad. I know that's not nice, but I NEED a night away. I haven't seen Deborah in a couple of years, either. We just keep missing each other. To be honest, I'm a bit nervous. Since she divorced Marc, she has quite a different lifestyle. Hopefully I can talk her into a quiet night at her house after the concert. A slumber party, if you will:) If I feel uncomfortable at all, I will call Steve and Casey.
I haven't flown in a long time, either. I am nervous about that as well.
I wish I was going to be able to meet Denine though. They are leaving that day for their vacation....so I will miss her this time. Bummer:(
In My Life
(Lennon-McCartney)
Lead vocal: John Lennon
There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed.
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments,
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living,
In my life I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no-one compares with you.
And these mem'ries lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I'll love you more.
In my life I'll love you more.
There are songs that hit me in the gut. This one is one that does. It can make me laugh, or make me cry, depending on my mood. (its a make me cry mood tonight)....but it always affects me.
I'd better update so Katie doesn't stick her tongue out at me anymore;-)
I heard from both Steve and Casey about the Seattle gig. They both want me to go up for it. If I can swing it, I will. I could use a couple of days away......and a little harmless flirting will be good for the soul ;) I can't say as I would mind having someone tell me I look nice......and the hugs are worth the trip all by themselves. Geeze....I sound like a pathetic middle aged woman:/ Oh wait!! I am!!
Joseph has already finished the world history book I got him at the beginning of the school year. It was supposed to last til June. He likes it so much, he keeps working! I won't complain though. I'm glad he likes learning...and can do it at his own pace. He's getting a lot better on the guitar already too. It doesn't hurt my ears to listen to him practice.
Oops....Chris just pulled in from work....better go:)
Hmmm...shall I critique the Golden Globes? I didn't see all of it, so I can't comment on a lot. Sharon Stone's hair looked like mine does when I wake up in the morning. I wonder how much she pays for THAT hairdo.;) Nicole Kidman's dress was pretty, but it lacked something.....she needed more color. Renee Zellwieger (I know I butchered that spelling) looks good. Its nice to see someone who doesn't look anorexic. I just caught a glimpse of the Will & Grace cast....but they all looked good as far as I could see.
Friday night was pizza and beer. It is nice not to worry about what I eat for at least ONE meal a week:-)
Yesterday we went to IKEA. I can spend hours in there....and a ton of money if I had it. I did pick up some bins and some slipcovers for the dining room chairs......$2.99 each! I was stoked. I have never seen them that cheap. I bought the cream coloured ones, but might go back and get the blue as well. They would look good for spring. We found the loft bed Joseph wants. As soon as either the bonus or the tax refund gets here, we're going to go get it. It will SO open up his room.
Today was quiet. Chris pruned roses, Joseph went to youth group and I worked on some scrapbooking. I am such a baby at it....but love it already. I aspire someday to be as good as Katie and Kim at scrapbooking;-) When we picked up Joseph and A from youth group and brought them home, A gets ou tof the car and asked what smelled so good. I had a roast in the oven. Its too bad he was going home tonight, I would have invited him for dinner. I don't think his mom cooks at all.....and I KNOW L doesn't. They go out for fast food every night. Poor kid.....had never had a hamburger that wasn't from BK or Mickey Ds until we fixed him one:(
I've got a new book to read. Its a Nora Roberts. I hope its as good as her others. I guess I'll take it in to bed and do a little reading:)
I had to replace my iron today. I was pissed. We bought that damn iron last month....and it up and quit. What a POS. I didn't save my stupid receipt either, so I couldn't take it back. I DID send a complaint to Sunbeam, maker of said piece of shit iron. I bought a GE iron....looks like a much better one. It has vertical steam (woo hoo!) Lord, it doesn't take much to make me happy....an iron with vertical steam. Pathetic;)
I've been taking all the tests on line the past few days.....what presidential candidate most reflects my views.....what kind of thinker I am.....
The thinker one surprised me. According to that test, I am a musical thinker. Its true that music is very much tied to my emotions.
I've been thinking a lot about Jimmy lately. I can't believe he's been gone for 5 years.......it seems like yesterday. I miss him. He was one of the good guys:( I guess me thinking about him is why I have had that dream the past few nights. Weird.
Chris wants to go to the Sports & Boat Show at the Cow Palace this weekend.....I want to go to the Home Decorating Expo in Sacramento. Wonder where we'll end up going.
I was good for dinner. I grilled some pork chops, made a side of pasta w/garlic & olive oil, and had green beans with it. My big downfall is snacking at night. If I can knock THAT off I will be ok. I need to drink more water too......which I will do right now:-)
What is that strange yellow ball in the sky? OMG its the sun! We haven't seen it in two weeks. I may actually hang clothes outside on the line instead of throwing them in the dryer.
Its still wet outside though. The backyard needs to be mowed....but that ain't happening today.....too mucky. Maybe I'll sweep the patio and front porch though.
I'm going to put a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove soon......I forgot to buy french bread yesterday, so I'll have Chris pick some up on the way home. I got this really good olive oil for dipping.....yum:-)
Well....off do do more laundry......
It feels like a Monday;)
I've been cleaning today....and I got the car registration paid, then went grocery shopping. I love my club card, lol. With the club card and the 10% discount certificate......groceries that cost $165 ended up costing $120. Good deal for almost 2 weeks:)
We went thrift shopping yesterday.......I got 2 good deals. One was a brand new (tags attatched) skirt for $1.99....and the best deal was a cashmere COAT for $4.99. OMG it is the softest thing I have ever felt. Its a burgundy swing coat. Very cool:)
I tossed it in the dryer with the Dryel thing.....its perfect.
Tonight is CCD....I've GOT to get those kids ready for the test next week. They have to pass, or Karla won't let them be Confirmed. *I* think its a load of shit......if they have been coming to class every week, going to youth group and doing their volunteer work, missing a question on a freaking test shouldn't preclude them from Confirmation. No wonder kids have been abandoning our program and going to St Josephs. Not so much bs to deal with there.
Today would have been a day to stay in bed. I have been in a foul mood ALL day. I know its hormones/crappy weather related.
Chris sent me to Big 5 this morning.....the boots I have been wanting were in the Sunday ad. Guess he thought they would cheer me. I love them...they're warm and comfy, but *things* aren't going to make it better. He told me this afternoon to go to Wilson's Leather Outlet tomorrow and see if the shearling /suede jackets that are on clearance come in my size. $39.99 is a terrific price....but, again, its not another *thing* that will put me in a better mood. Right now, I don't know what will :*(
I think I will go to bed early....maybe sleep will help.
I wish it would rain....at least the freaking FOG would go away for a while. I just don't want to do anything. Chris would say I don't GAF (Give a f*ck). He'd be right:/
Chris went to the Sportsmens Show at Cal Expo......Joseph & I dropped him off and went to the Guitar Center then to Arden Mall. It just wasn't worth spending $30 for the 3 of us to go to that thing, expecially when neither Joseph nor I wanted to go. He did pick up a few brochures I might want to look at.....later.
The mall had a few deals though......went into Rave and picked up 2 chenille sweaters for $10 total.....and got a new Mickey Mouse sweatshirt for $5.99...and a Grumpy one for Chris for $9.50 at the Disney Store. Gotta love 75% off sales;) Joseph found a tee at Zumiez....the Leningrad Peace Concert or something like that. Its very cool.
On the way home, Chris wanted to stop at the factory outlets......I finally picked up Fast Food Nation at the Book Warehouse. They had it for $5. I think we'll ALL read that one. Igot Joyce Maynard's autobiography.....looks interesting. Joseph picked out a couple of books too....one about Tony Hawk,one on the Beatles (yep...that's my boy, lol) and one about the Montgomery marches from the 60s.
I fixed some fried brown rice with pork for dinner....and picked up chow mein & pot stickers to go with. Not very original, but again...who cares;)
And now....its a hot Saturday night. I almost said that with a straight face;) The boys are watching a movie (no idea what..some kung fu one I think) and I'm in front of the keyboard. WOW. Hows that for boring?
This is the song that doesn't end...yes it goes on and on my friend.....some people started singing it not knowing what it was....and they'll continue singing if forever just because....this is the song that doesn't end.......
That popped into my mind as I was doing endless laundry today. I can't get it out of my head now, Grrr.
I took Joseph for a haircut. I'm glad he is old enough to tell the barber/stylist what he wants....AND that he wants a normal haircut;) He is embracing his curls again....after a few months of putting so much crap on his hair to try and make it look straight. Poor kid....he figured out it aiin't gonna happen. His curls are here to stay, unless he wears a buzz cut.
We'll be going out for pizza tonight....Fridays are pizza & beer night...and hang the diet;/ We 'are' getting veggie pizza, so it's healthier, right?
New Monk is on at 10....I can't wait!
I am SO glad I don't live on the east coast right now. BRRRRR. I'm cold enough with my 50* temps and fog we have. I'll bet big bro is freezing his ass off. I'll have to email him and tease him about Boston's weather.....because I'm the little sister, and its my job;)
Joseph took out the garbage, fed all the animals and swept the sidewalk without being told to. Will wonders ever cease?? Its not that he doesn't do his chores, its just that he usually has to be *reminded*
This has been the longest week.....it has been dragging! I guess its this damn cold I have. I hate being all stuffy:/ I got some bills paid today. I think I'll fix lentils for dinner. Joseph can make some cornbread and I'll go out and snip some lettuce for a salad. Chris will most likely be laste, so he can heat it up when he gets home..tomorrow night is pizza night....and the new Monk is on too. Yay! I love Monk;)
I ran into Goodwill while I was running errands this afternoon.
Deal of the day: Brand new down vest for $1.99!
Got the video and CD returned to the library....and dropped off the insurance payment. I hated going out today...its cold wet and yucky. I had better not complain too much about the weather though, or someone might cyber smack me. At least we don't have below freezing temps and too much snow.
I am seriously having to sit om my fingers after some of the stuff I've read today. K is just where I was a year or so ago...'oh she's trying to improve herself' or some such crap. I'll just keep my mouth shut.
Dr Phil has clueless dads on it looks like. I need to go see what he says. I do love Dr Phil;)
He would have a field day with ......
The nasty cold is a little better today.....at least I'm upright;-)
I've got the laundry going....one load in the dryer and one ready to go in....I ran the dishwasher and vacuumed the living room (how's THAT for boring, Katie)
I am going to have some chicken soup and watch Days then I have to go to Staples to make copies of tonight's test.
Joseph has finished his schoolwork and is in his room practicing the guitar. He doesn't sound horrible;)
I hate Monday:-)
I have a ton of stuff to do, bills to pay....but I feel so rotten I am going to spend the day wrapped in a soft blanket, drinking tea. I have books due at the library, but I'm gonna renew them online so I don't have to go out today.
Joseph is doing a project about the Montgomery bus boycott as part of his MLK studies. I'm having him make a poster about the boycott. Luckily he's pretty self directed and can do the assignments with no help from me. I'd be worthless today. Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow......for CCD. I've got to get the kids ready for their test.....a must pass w/100%.
I'm still pissed about the loss of access thing. Someone thinks someone else *might* be taking something private and spreading it around. BS. My integrity is something I am very proud of.....and if I'm not trusted, I sure don't want to post anything there:/
The whole 'you shouldn't hang around with *those* people' crap chaps my hide. I've never been one to not be friends with someone because someone *else* doesn't like them. Not even in elementary school;)
Enough complaining for a bit;-)
Time for more tea & honey........I guess its chicken soup for lunch:-)
I've finally caught the nasty cold. I'm all stuffed up, and I don't like it;/ I've been sneezing my fool head off. I'm taking echinecea (sp?) to hopefully get rid of it sooner.
Well, I guess I'm persona non grata at kats forum now. Looks like D has managed to get her pissed off at me....I noticed tonight I have no access to the private folder. Oh fucking well. I am finally seeing the light that everyone has been talking about these past few years. I have been very stuid, believing all the bullshit. No more......and I hope everyone who thinks D is poor little D will find out the truth as well:/
My head hurts and I need to have a cup of tea now.......
Chris is acting all pissy because I'm not giving him any sympathy for his episode yesterday. Too friggin bad. I told him he knows better, and should have had at least a protein bar. At the very least he should have told R & E that he needed to eat. He starts with the 'well, if you had it you'd understand'. Bullshit. If I was a diabetic I would damn skippy take care of myself:/
Well, Roy is out of the hospital and safely at home.
We went down to Santa Cruz last night & got a room at the Comfort Inn.....I just didn't want to bother Eleanor with staying there, and I didn't want to have to leave our house at 6 or 7 a.m.
The room had a spa bathtub. I decided it would be nice to take a bubble bath....since I only take showers at home. NOT a good idea, LOL. I squeezed a generous dollop of body wash into the water when I turned it on. No problem.....until I turned the jets on;-)
I almost had an I Love Lucy scene.....the bubbles kept growing and growing and growing......I was trying to knock them down.....I finally called to Chris to turn off the jets. I finished my bath......and no bubbles made it to the floor. I was afraid it was going to run over. When I told Chris and Joseph, they both got a giggle out of it. WTF was I thinking? Live and learn;-)
We dropped Chris off at the hospital and Joseph & I went downtown for a couple of hours. I found a couple of great books at Bookshop Santa Cruz & Borders. We had lunch at Zoccoli's OMG I had the best French onion soup....Joseph had beef stew....then I got a cannoli for dessert. OOPS Not low cal at all, but it was so worth it;)
Chris, the dumb shit...didn't eat lunch when he should have. He waited too long because he didn't want to bother R & E....so he ended up going low and getting sick:/ I could smack him. He knows he has to eat, and he knows he can get very sick if he doesn't. But he has to be a freaking hero. He had nothing in his pockets...no M&Ms, no glucose tablets....nothing:/ I ended up giving him TWO spoonfuls of sugar at Eleanors house. He is just now (at 10:30 at night) feeling better. I guess I am a bitch, because he gets no sympathy from me when he does that. He knows better. He's 48 years old for Gods sake, he's diabetic and he KNOWS he has to eat. Low blood sugar can KILL him. Stupid fuck. He will feel like crap all day tomorrow. He aches like he has the flu when this happens. I hope he will learn from this, but he is stubborn....it will happen again.
The room had a spa bathtub. I decided it would be nice to take a bubble bath....since I only take showers at home. NOT a good idea, LOL. I squeezed a generous dollop of body wash into the water when I turned it on. No problem.....until I turned the jets on;-)
I almost had an I Love Lucy scene.....the bubbles kept growing and growing and growing......I was trying to knock them down.....I finally called to Chris to turn off the jets. I finished my bath......and no bubbles made it to the floor. I was afraid it was going to run over. When I told Chris and Joseph, they both got a giggle out of it. WTF was I thinking? Live and learn;-)
We dropped Chris off at the hospital and Joseph & I went downtown for a couple of hours. I found a couple of great books at Bookshop Santa Cruz & Borders. We had lunch at Zoccoli's OMG I had the best French onion soup....Joseph had beef stew....then I got a cannoli for dessert. OOPS Not low cal at all, but it was so worth it;)
Chris, the dumb shit...didn't eat lunch when he should have. He waited too long because he didn't want to bother R & E....so he ended up going low and getting sick:/ I could smack him. He knows he has to eat, and he knows he can get very sick if he doesn't. But he has to be a freaking hero. He had nothing in his pockets...no M&Ms, no glucose tablets....nothing:/ I ended up giving him TWO spoonfuls of sugar at Eleanors house. He is just now (at 10:30 at night) feeling better. I guess I am a bitch, because he gets no sympathy from me when he does that. He knows better. He's 48 years old for Gods sake, he's diabetic and he KNOWS he has to eat. Low blood sugar can KILL him. Stupid fuck. He will feel like crap all day tomorrow. He aches like he has the flu when this happens. I hope he will learn from this, but he is stubborn....it will happen again.
Need......to........get......motivated.
Serious case of the blahs this morning. I was really good for breakfast....a Special K bar and coffee. It satisfied me, so maybe the stomach is shrinking;)
I've got so much to do, and I just don't feel like it. Joseph is watching the MLK video and I'm sitting on my ass.....
Made a library run this afternoon. After I paid the fines ($1.40....bad me) I got a MLK biography video and book for Social Studies for Joseph , along with a cool math book and a science book that covers earth science and environmental science. They should complement the workbooks this month. I also picked up a Harry Connick CD. Nothin like Harry to mellow me out....and its legal;)
Still don't know when we're going back to Santa Cruz. Apparently Roy will be in the hospital a couple more days. They may send him to the rehab center if he's still having trouble walking. (and they say he didn't have another stroke???) It worries me. Eleanor can't handle him at home if he's ill.....WTF will they do? I can't spend all my time down there....I have too much going on here, and its not my responsibility (bitchy, I know.) I'm tired of being the good girl and always doing the right thing:/
BAD blogger;-)
Here's an update:
Friday ~ I got the trees undecorated and all the living room and family room decorations down and boxed. I took the Christmas tablecloth off the dining room table and found a cute blue winter looking one to put on.
When I started to make dinner that night, I noticed the burners wouldn't heat on the stove.....Chris fiddled around with it. The stove is officially dead....so we had to go buy a new one. I was pissed about having to spend much money right after Christmas! We went to look at Lowes. Eureka! They had one on clearance.....$215. I was stoked. It was just what I wanted, accessory wise. Its self cleaning, has 2 big/2 small burners, and storage. Chris asked the salesman if there were any in stock. NOPE....just the floor model, but he would talk to the mgr and see if we could get a discount on it because it didn't have a box. We got another $50 off the price, and the kid threw in the cord for us. We got out of there paying $177 including tax for a brand new stove. Yay us;)
Saturday~ Chris got the outside lights down and decorations put away.
We decided we needed a break (and the weather was beautiful) so we went to Petaluma to poke around the antique shops and thrift stores. We ran into Laura and Isabella in one of the shops. Joseph bought a ukelele at Jungle Vibes.
Sunday ~ We were going to just veg & read the Sunday paper. Joseph wanted to go to youth group. We got an e mail from E saying that R was in the hospital again, and needed a pacemaker. Chris decided we should go down to be with her, because she freaks so easily, so after we picked Joseph up from youth group, we headed down to SC. I wanted to get a motel room though.....so we stayed at the Ramada.
Monday~ We spent most of the day at the hospital. We took Joseph's books, so he did his classwork in the waiting room. The pacemaker was supposed to be installed at 10:30.....the doc called in sick (he had to have his gallbladder removed) so it was postponed til 3:30. E went home for a nap, and we went shopping. Got back to the hospital and the procedure was postponed again.....finally they started, but had to stop. R had a seizure when they started to put him under. I guess it scared the shit out of the docs. Anyway, they decided to postpone again, they said for probably a couple of days. They ran a bunch of tests to make sure he didn't have another stroke. We came home late Monday night.
Tuesday~ Chris went in to work late (about 7:30 as opposed to leaving before 6 a.m.) Joseph got his schoolwork done quickly....and started practicing guitar. I laugh at him......he loves science but hates math.
I got most of the bills paid yesterday that needed to be. Today I will send out the rest.
I've got a big pot of beans simmering on the stove. I added the ham bone from the New Years ham....it smells so good. It will be low fat too......just the beans and a salad. I'll make some sour dough bread to go with too.
I'm off to go get a bottle of water......
I can't believe it is 2004. Wow.
I have decided to join the weight losers list. I hate the way I look. It just compounds everything else. Its just one more thing to dislike about myself. People who look at me don't think I'm heavy....I can carry it well, but I know I am:( I really want to get back into a size 10. Its only one size but it means a lot.
Today wasn't a good day to start the diet/lifestyle change/whatever it is. Holiday dinners are NOT low cal. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. My biggest thing is snacking at night. That will have to change.
Tomorrow is the undecorating...at least the beginning. I have a lot to undecorate, lol. I found a cool set of candleholders and candles at Mervyns today....there are 5 or 6 of them, and they look antique. I think I will put them on the mantle when I take the Christmas stuff off there. The ruby glassware can go somewhere else. I need a change:)
I put the new flannel sheet set on the bed....and I am ready to crawl in. I think I'll turn on the telly in there and watch more Monk:-)
